§ Google Chrome’s Incognito Mode

chrome incognito

Google Chrome offers another type of window/browsing mode called “incognito mode”. When we’re using Google Chrome in incognito mode page information (website addresses, downloaded files will not be stored/logged in our browsing and download histories. And, when we close the “incognito window”, all new cookies will be deleted right away.

Read mode details about incognito mode at Google Chrome Help page.

In simple definition, it means we can use incognito for more private browsing. It’s about information on your side, not server’s. If the server logs your data (IP address, user agents, etc), your data will be recorded.

But, I don’t regularly — well, almost never — use it. My main reason is because I’m using Google Chrome — and other browsers — in a private computer. And, sometime browsing histories are useful. The download histories, too.

§ Web Browsers’ Homepage Designs

I only visit web browsers’ sites when I want to download — sometime, I don’t even have to go to their sites to get updates — or, only when someone/something refers me to an address in those sites. Those are some possibilities. Their websites have beautiful designs, and sometime can be a great inspiration. :)

So, here are some screenshots. I like their designs as inspirations. Not in a particular order:

§ Themes for Google Chrome

When I heard about Google Chrome, I downloaded right away. Even now I have it installed, but I do not use it for daily work. Mozilla Firefox and Opera are still on my top list.

If you’re using Chrome and you want to have different looks, there are some Google Chrome themes available to download. I haven’t tried to install a theme yet. Maybe later. Anyway, if you want to use some other themes, do not forget to install XChrome. What is XChrome?

XChrome is a theme manager for Googles Chrome browser, it allows users to install a skin in seconds without having to move default.dll around and it allows you to view the author and various other details before installing.
XChrome also allows users who do not have XChrome install to install themes by double clicking the themes .exe file, they are prompted to install the theme, they agree the theme is copied to Chromes Default.dll

§ Google Chrome Download and Install: First Impression

When I heard about Google Chrome, I was very curious and really wanted to try it. Now, it’s available for download. I could not stop comparing Google Chrome with other browsers installed. Of course, I found that Mozilla Firefox and Opera are way much better than the first release of Google Chrome, at least right now.

Download an Install

Unlike other browsers, we could not download the executable installation file. At first, we need to download an installer (around 475 KB), and run it. It will download the Google Chrome after we executed it. Wait for some moments, and you will be prompted to the next installation steps. The installation process was really straight forward. Everyone should be able to do it without problems. Anyway, Google Chrome is only available for Windows XP/Vista right now.

§ Google Chrome Screenshots and Download

You may have heard that Google will launch its very own web browser shortly. It’s called Google Chrome. Currently, I already have some browsers installed, but Google Chrome seems promising. Here is what its developers said:

On the surface, we designed a browser window that is streamlined and simple. To most people, it isn’t the browser that matters. It’s only a tool to run the important stuff — the pages, sites and applications that make up the web. Like the classic Google homepage, Google Chrome is clean and fast. It gets out of your way and gets you where you want to go.

It’s said that Google Chrome combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier.

I’m curious about how it looks like. Google Blogoscoped provides some informative screenshots and other supporting details. The download link is not available yet, but it seems that it will be available at http://gears.google.com/chrome/ And, don’t forget to read Google Chrome Comic Book. It will explains many things about Google Chrome.
