I just knew that Nokia tune was composed in 1902. This tune — also called Grande Valse — is a phrase from a composition for solo guitar, Gran Vals, by the Spanish classical guitarist and composer Francisco Tárrega. And, it’s estimated that this Nokia tune is heard 1.8 billion times per day, about 20,000 times per second. [Reference: Nokia tune on Wikipedia]

WordPress 3.0, code name “Thelonious” released.

3.0 is faster, stabler, and more secure, so you can focus on what matters (your audience) and let the rest fade to the background. Custom post types, MU merge, menu editor, Twenty Ten theme, over 1,200 bug fixes… there’s so much to enjoy in this new release, we’re really proud of it. It’s the best WordPress yet, and available for a limited time for only free ninety nine. ;)

Wikipedia now has a new design, and logo too. About the design, here are few things you should now (taken from the announcement):

  • Look and feel: We’ve introduced a new theme we call “Vector” which makes essential functions easier to find.
  • Navigation: We’ve improved the navigation for reading and editing pages. Now, the tabs at the top of each page more clearly define whether you’re reading or editing a page. There’s also a collapsible navigation for the left sidebar that hides items that aren’t used often, but allows them to continue to be easily accessible.
  • Editing improvements: We’ve reorganized the editing toolbar to make it easier to use. Now, formatting pages is simpler and more intuitive. And we’ve introduced a table wizard to make creating tables easier. You’ll also discover a new find and replace feature to simplify page editing.
  • Link wizard: An easy-to-use tool allows you to add links to other pages on Wikipedia, or to pages on external sites.
  • Search improvements: Search suggestions are now improved to get you to the page you are looking for more quickly.
  • Pediapress book creator: Create a printed book by selecting Wikipedia articles and adding them to the Book Creator. Your articles will be turned into a PDF (or OpenDocument) file so you can easily take Wikipedia wherever you go.
  • Updated Puzzle globe and wordmark: The well-known Wikipedia globe and wordmark have been enhanced and improved. We’ve introduced Linux Libertine, an open source typeface to help support the creation of hundreds of localized Wikipedia wordmarks, and the internationally-recognized puzzle globe has been recreated in 3D and includes even more languages. Read more from our recent blog post.

unfollowallI’m not sure whether I will use this tool called Unfollow All or not, but right now, I don’t have plan to unfollow Twitter users I’m following. But, if I — or an account I maintain — need to do this, this tool should help me do the dirty job.

What is Unfollow All?

This tool will automatically unfollow everybody you’re following. There will be no further confirmation. Please be patient as this may take some time, depending on how many people you are following. After completion, unfollows may take some time to take affect.

In 2009, Indonesian batik is inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). Type of batik reinforced as World Heritage is a type of “batik tulis” (hand-written batik) and not “batik cap” (printed batik). See more photos about batik from my photoblog.

Few days ago, I joined a discussion on other site about i-teve. I thought, I need to respond some comments there. Why? OK, someone wrote this:

wahhh parah banget nih i-teve. Niru2 youtube banget. Malu gw sama bangsa Indonesia. Bikin yang baru gitu dong, apa kek

OK. What about this:

Iya, tapi menurut gw kurang aja nih i-teve kalo konsepnya bener2 njiplak youtube. Plagiat mungkin adalah kata-kata yang tepat, atau mungkin copy cat?

The question is: does he — who gave comments above — already understand what i-teve and YouTube are? But, thank you for your comments… :)

Flickr already supports HD Videos. Another good new for Flickr Pro users: Flickr raised the video filesize limit! We can now upload upto 500 MB of video file — previously, the limit was 150 MB). Yay!

I think, I’d better leave my blog without new entries rather than stealing articles brutally from other sites just to show that I update my blog.

After enabling media file preview in Google Mail, I decided to enable another Google Labs feature. It’s Undo Send. This email feature will give us 5 seconds to decide whether we want to send the email or cancel it. I think this feature is very useful. In 5 seconds? I think it’s enough. Or, not?

I did this few weeks ago. All my feeds under my Feedburner account had been integrated with my Google Account. I managed some feeds, not only for my blogs, but also some other blogs I maintain. It’s encouraged to move Feedburner into your Google Account. When did this, I had no problem. Google has some details about this.

The first maintenance release for WordPress 2.7 is ready to download. Using the auto-upgrade tool from the dashboard, it should not be painful. I’ve upgraded, and it only took few seconds. :)

Twitter Front End is a new look at Twitter.com and the web interface powering the message service’s social interactions today.

This website was built by Niall Kennedy using web standards best practices and optimized code design. Twitter FE is currently a read-only clone of the Twitter.com website rewritten for external development and rapid iteration.

Twitter FE is written in Python on Google App Engine. A few sprinkles of YUI JavaScript help delegate load times.

Michael Fincke (Expedition 18 commander) and Greg Chamitoff (flight engineer) will beam their vote from the International Space Station as they fly 220 miles (354 km) above Earth.

How they vote from the space?
The County Clerk’s office prepares a secure electronic ballot that is then relayed to the International Space Station via NASA’s Mission Control room at the Johnson Space Center. Meanwhile, the Clerk’s Office sends a separate e-mail to the astronaut with login information to access the ballot and vote.

But the school’s headmaster in Zalaegerszeg, western Hungary, has refused to sack the unnamed mistress despite pressure from parents and other teachers.
“I was forced to give the German teacher a warning, but I will not dismiss her because she is a valuable teacher for our institution,” said head Sandor Rozman.
He claimed she had shown no more flesh “than you would see on a beach.”

A new security scanner being tested in Australia can see through clothing and is being described as a “virtual strip search.”

What’s what the news said (via BuzzFeed). It’s on trial in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide airports from this month.

From to AOL Australia:

“It does see through clothing, but it’s not a photographic image, it’s a low-energy X-ray that reflects off the skin,” said Cheryl Johnson, general manager of the Office of Transport Security.

“It will show the private parts of people, but what we’ve decided is that we’re not going to blur those out, because it severely limits the detection capabilities. It is possible to see genitals and breasts while they’re going through the machine, though.”

“The faces are automatically blurred and … it’s only a chalk-style outline, it’s not as invasive as some of the other equipment that we’ve got,” she said.

You have heard many advices from the internet about password. About making a strong and good password, advice to change the password regularly, etc. About this password-thingy, I found an interesting note about password: Password is like a toothbrush — choose a good one and don’t share it. Anyway, found this on a post by Yodel Anecdotal about mail security tips.

I just knew about Marcell Siahaan’s blog from Benny Candra. Yes, he’s that Marcell, an Indonesian singer. If you’re his fans and want to know more about him, it’s time to visit his blog. This is what I like from a blog, it can bring individual closer to each other. Anyway, I just knew also that his full name is Marcellius Kirana Hamonangan Siahaan. :)

rapidshare-new-logo

RapidShare — probably the biggest file hosters in the world — got a new design (news). Head to its page to see what’s new. It looks cleaner now (and better layout), and it’s said that there are some usability improvements. It’s not only about having a new layout. It has a new logo also. To celebrate its new design, they doubled the download volume for premium users. It’s 50 GB instead of 25 GB.

Okey, they have a new design — which is nice design. But, it seems that they haven’t got any blog yet. Is it on their next plan? Well, dunno.
