Asia Blogging Network joining the blogosphere

in Media, Sites, Webdev, wordpress

I know, I am a little bit late. Yesterday, a brand new blog network called Asia Blogging Network was launched (read the press release). If you want to know what it is all about, you can read Asia Blogging Network general information page. Here are some posts you might want to read:

I involved in this network as the WordPress coder. I create themes that will suit all blogs in the network. Right now, most blogs use a default theme. And I made this default theme has the capability to handle basic modification and all features that will be placed in all blogs. Not all features placed in all blogs now. Just give us few days to do it.

You probably confused when browsing to the blogs. Okey, here are few things that (hopefully) can answer your confusion.

  • There are many blogs, more than 70 blogs in 14 domains. And it is only in the first phase of development. Later, there will be more blogs created.
  • Each blog resides in the parent domain. For example: Hollywood Shoot, Japanese Cinema and Korean Cinema reside under My Film Blogs
  • If you want to browse the live articles, just to go Asia Blogging Network Live! Page. It’s a good place to start finding topics you’re interested most.

Challenges

We use WordPress as our primary blogging platform. For me (as a Movable Type user), this project is so challenging. Setting up a single WordPress MU installation is not that hard. But, what about managing 14 installation of WordPress MU, managing required plugins and themes for all blogs, make sure that all themes can handle all features offered by this network? And, if a blog has a new feature, all blogs should have it too! That’s the challenge. And, I decided to take it. We have a great team.

Like I mentioned above, the next plan is to produce a personalized theme for each blog to give each blog its own identity. Right now, the theme development framework is almost ready. It should not (I hope!) that difficult to produce new themes. If there are 60 blogs, then there will be 60 different themes.

I know that there are some features that do not work as expected. Do not worry, we will continue the development. It’s challenging, and fun! If you have questions, do not hesitate to contact Asia Blogging.

Good Luck for a nice job. Asia Blogging have a great themes modification, excellent layout and simple navigation.

Is there a chance to add RSS feed facility to all of content of Asia Blogging ? Currently, RSS feed only applicable for every sub-blog. With 70 blogs around the Asia Blogging, I must add the RSS feed 70 times :-).

Good Luck for Asia Blogging Team.

    #sengaja posting pake bhs Indonesia.

    Pertanyaannya

Apakah untuk ngeblog di AB musti pakai bhs inggris?

    itu masalahku.

PS: sayang Asia tidak punya bahasa pemersatu.

    Masim Vavai,

Yes, there will be. I was thinking of global RSS for all blogs. I know, subscribing to every single feed will be painful. We’ll find the best alternatives for this. It should be helpful if there is one master feed.

    Kusaeni,

Saya udah cek AsiaBlogging Networknya. That would be great! Sangat potensial — meski saya sendiri belum paham benar gimana mekanisme dan bentuk “real network”nya seperti apa. Tapi kalau melihat list para founder dan para supporternya, saya kira itu bisa membuat para blogger merasa sangat nyaman, termasuk saya :))
