Textpattern 4.0.4

Textpattern 4.0.4 is ready. I have the previous version installed. And I think I will give it a try, only for my personal development.

Before downloading, you’d better read the “what’s new” or improved things in this new version. Just read: Frequently Asked Question on 4.0.4

Before upgrading to the latest release — well, not only for Textpattern, but also when I upgrade my Movable Type or WordPress installation — I have my own guidelines:

• Backup the database. If you’re a Textpattern user, rss_admin_db_manager will help you. You can also use database backtup tool in your webhosting control panel.
• Remove the files in the previous distribution. But do not forget to keep the important files like: configuration file and plugins. Since Textpattern plugins are stored in database, then, it should not be a problem.
• Grab the latest release, unpack, and edit the configuration file. Run the upgrade process.
• Check whether everything works properly.
• If you find something critical — something you need it badly, but it does not run in your newest installation, you can easily revert your installation.
