Akismet 2.1.2 Screenshot

New version of Akismet (blog spam filter plugin) for WordPress was released few days ago. This updated plugin will filter comment spams by their types. The word “types” here means comments and trackbacks.

If you want to use this latest plugin, just download it right away. Since I have some other WordPress-powered blog to maintain, I think I’ll upgrade their Akismet plugin. It’s easy, and I believe that it’s better to have updated plugins. :)

Added later: There’s another plugin update. It’s 2.1.3 now. I have upgraded Akismet for some WordPress-powered blogs. Let’s see how it goes. Thanks Deny for the info.

    The issue… well, the previous Akismet plugin should work fine. The update will help us on spam filtering (comment and trackback spams are now separated).

    Few days ago, I got a friend telling me that he got a massive spam attack. I upgrade his WordPress and Akismet. After few days, the spams were gone.

    I am not sure whether it’s related or not, but I think it’s better to have updated applications.

    I was looking for something about spam filters, but to tell you the truth, I am using one called spam karma and I like it alot betterthan akismet. I would highly recommend it.

    If Spam Karma is also available for Movable Type, I will definitely try that. So far, Akismet works great in this Movable Type-powered blog. :) I use Spam Karma for some WordPress-powered blogs, and you’re right, it works great.
