It has been two weeks since I installed Ubuntu in my PC. I enjoy it! Really. I enjoy reading Ubuntu tutorials, updating packages, customizing my desktop, and more. Now, I put Ubuntu as my default OS (I still have Windows XP) installed.
About the applications I have, here are some:
- For web browsers, I have Firefox, Opera, and Flock
- I use GAIM 2.0.0beta5 instant messenging. It works great! Nice look.
- OpenOffice is also here.
- I use XMMS as music player. It’s simple. I also tried Amarok, but I decided to use XMMS. Anyway, I also have Rhythmbox.
- Gnome Baker for CD buring application.
- Evince for PDF viewing
- Eye of GNOME for image viewer.
- Akregator for RSS aggregator. In Windows, I use Omea Reader.
- I haven’t used email client. I still use web-based email now, hosted by Google.
- VLC for media player
- I have Bluefish and Nvu for text editor.
For the RSS reader, I still use Google Reader as my primary RSS reader. I just exported my subscriptions from Omea, get the .opml file, and imported it. That’s all.
I am sure that there are still many interesting and useful applications. If you’re a Ubuntu Linux guru, would you mind sharing your ideas about recommended applications? Anyway, if you want to see my desktop screenshots, check my Picasa Web Albums.
